Scaring ourselves with vision is what it’s about … So come along for the ride or surf and turn a vision into reality…
In 1997 Mick Sheehan and Bindy Brewin established the Southern Exposure Eco-Adventure Sports. As the first eco adventure company on the Great Ocean Road to specialise in mountain biking, surfing and kayaking, we set out to promote this sublimely beautiful environment with an ethos of sustainability, safety and education.
We are one of the few Surf Schools to be granted Licenses to operate activities along the Great Ocean Road and the Surf Coast and we recognise our role as suppliers of eco adventure activities in the areas as a privilege.
We respect cultural heritage and have sort advice from the Wathaurong Clan; the original owners of this land.
All Surf School, Mountain Biking and Sea Kayak Activities operated by Southern Exposure comply with the Department of Education, Employment and Training’s
Safety Guidelines: Swimming Based Activities and the “Outdoor Recreation Centre Inc” - Adventure Activity Standards.
Headed by one of Victoria’s most enthusiastic and experienced mountain bikers, Mick Sheehan takes great pride in “offering our clients a safe, pleasurable, value for money and sustainable adventure experience”.
Our creative integration of programs into school curriculum, eco tourism and corporate adventure has added to the business growing organically. Southern Exposure has a team of 20 highly qualified and professional staff members with diverse backgrounds.
Southern Exposure has introduced two major mountain bike events to the endurance race calendar in the past year. These include
Surf Coast 6 Hour Mountain Bike Festival and the
3 day Trans Otway Mountain Bike Festival.
So come on... We would love to see you...
Environmental Policy
To counteract our greenhouse gas emissions Southern Exposure has bought carbon offsets to replant native vegetation to absorb the emissions of running the business, as a commitment to give our clients a cleaner conscience and a cleaner environment.
This has been done through Bendigo Bank Generation Green Carbon Offsets. The vegetation that will be planted near Natimuk near Mount Arapiles in Western Victoria on our behalf will consist of pre - 1750 species, including eucalypts, wattles, native grasses and wild flowers.
As a result by booking your activities with Southern Exposure you will be helping to restore biodiversity and essential habitat for native fauna, improve water quality and salinity problems.
This native vegetation is also protected for at least 100 years, so you can be rest assured that the benefits will be around for generations.
As a leading outdoor adventure company in Victoria we are proud to publicly commit to neutralising our greenhouse gas emissions. We are taking on a leadership role in an area where we can make a difference and set an example to our industry.

This Environmental Policy covers all activities carried out by Southern Exposure.
