Learn to Surf - Our 2 hour private Learn To Surf lessons include a personalised surfing experience with one on one coaching tailored to your skill level.
Includes board and wetsuit , a Learn to Surf briefing, land practice and warm up, surfing under the guidance of an expert coach, warm down and recap.

Learn to Surf in Torquay with Southern Exposure
Our introductory surf lessons are perfect for anyone ready to take up surfing along the Surf Coast and Great Ocean Road. You’ll learn essential surf safety techniques, basic surf etiquette and board control everything you need to stay safe and confident in the water.
At Southern Exposure Surf School, we take you through every important step so you can develop a strong understanding of how to get up, ride waves and start your surfing journey with confidence.
Your Lesson
Each lesson includes both land-based and water-based components to fully prepare you before hitting the waves. You’ll learn:
Proper stretching and warm-up techniques
Surf etiquette and ocean awareness
How to pop up, take off and dismount safely
Understanding rips, tides and wave conditions
Paddling, timing and catching your first wave
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refresh your skills, our experienced local instructors will help you gain the confidence and knowledge to surf safely and have fun in the ocean.

Adults
Get the surfing bug with Southern Exposure. We provide a safe and controlled environment for adults of all ages and abilities to learn to surf.
Children
Surfing is a positive, healthy and incredibly fun activity for kids. Under the supervision of our surf coaches and lifeguards, Southern Exposure is the perfect place for your little ones (aged 6 and up) to start their surfing journey.
We recommend anyone under the age of 8 to have a Parent / Guardian in the water.
Groups
